Membership

Your application will be processed, and, on approval, an invoice will be issued for the initial dues payment. Membership will only become active once full payment is received, which must be provided via bank transfer (details on invoice).

Membership dues, contributions, or gifts to CHEP are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However, they may be tax deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses subject to restrictions imposed as a result of lobbying activities. CHEP estimates that the portion of your 2026 dues allocable to non-deductible lobbying expenditures is seventy percent (70%).

Please note that CHEP reserves the right to decline a membership application and is not obliged to provide any rationale for that decision. In such an event, CHEP will keep that decision entirely confidential. A declined applicant may appeal in writing to CHEP’s Board of Directors. CHEP reserves the right to request references as appropriate.

By signing below, the entity listed in Section 1 (the “Company”) confirms, acknowledges, and agrees:

1. The Company currently originates non-recourse shared equity products and the Company must:
   • Provide meaningful consumer disclosures that support good financial decision making;
   • Include a cap on the amount that the investor may receive that is standard in the industry; and
   • Underwrite shared equity products such that the homeowner has at least reasonable unencumbered equity in the property after accepting the investment
2. The Company employs a full-time internal legal and compliance function.
3. The Company commits to supporting CHEP’s mission ⭧ of establishing regulatory frameworks for shared equity products that are distinct from existing credit regimes and provide for:
   • Licensing and oversight by financial regulators;
   • Standardized disclosures;
   • Caps on annualized cost;
   • Equity protective underwriting requirements; and
   • Prohibitions on unfair business practices.
4. If it is approved as an Executive Board Member, the Company agrees, while serving in its role as an Executive Board Member, to comply with and abide by the following as an official 501(c)(6) organization:
   • CHEP Bylaws ⭧
   • Member Code of Conduct ⭧
   • Originator Standards ⭧
   • CHEP Logo Use Agreement ⭧
   • CHEP Corporate Governance and Antitrust Policies ⭧
5. The Company possesses sufficient financial and operational capacity to pay all required CHEP membership dues and special assessments. Dues will be invoiced on a quarterly basis and are due within 15 days of receipt. For 2026, dues will be equal to $100,000 per quarter. This amount may be adjusted by CHEP’s Executive Board of Directors from time to time. Special Assessments of Dues may also be required.
6. The Company will not utilize the CHEP membership list for “mailing lists,” marketing, or promotional purposes and further undertakes to ensure that no person associated with the Company will use the CHEP membership list for such mailing list, marketing, or promotional purposes.
7. In the event of the cancellation of membership, any claim for a refund of membership fees paid will be entirely at the discretion of CHEP.
8. The details of the contact named in Section 2 will be included in CHEP’s online members’ directory as the contact for the Company’s membership.
